How to use a tumbler
🪨 HOW TO USE YOUR ROCK TUMBLER
Rock tumbling is a simple 4-stage process that gradually turns rough stones into smooth, polished gems.
1. COARSE GRIT
Fill the barrel ½–⅔ full with rocks. Add coarse grit and enough water to come close to the level of the rocks.
Close the barrel securely and tumble for approximately 7 days.
2. CLEAN
Empty the barrel and wash the stones and barrel thoroughly. Do not pour the slurry down your sink.
3. REPEAT
Repeat the process with progressively finer grit:
Stage 2 – Medium Grit: 7 days
Stage 3 – Fine Grit: 7 days
Stage 4 – Polish: 7 daysAlways clean the stones and barrel thoroughly between each stage.
✨ REMEMBER
COARSE → MEDIUM → FINE → POLISH
Each stage removes scratches from the previous stage. The stones will only develop their final shine during the polishing stage.
⚠️ IMPORTANT
• Do not overfill the barrel.
• Do not skip stages.
• Keep coarse grit away from the polishing stage.
• Not all gemstones are suitable for tumbling. Use durable stones such as quartz, agate and jasper.
• Some stones may require an additional week in a stage.Be patient and enjoy the process! 🪨✨
